Although both the Kenwood TH-28A and TH-48A are single band transceivers, they are equipped with a switchable dual-band (144/440 MHz) receiver allowing crossband operation. An alphanumeric display can be entered into the memory allowing you to name repeaters instead of just storing frequencies. Alphanumeric messages of up to six characters can be transmitted and received. Auto power off and auto battery saver functions conserve battery life. CTCSS is built-in. Multi scanning types are supported. Four RF output levels are provided. The TH-28A or TH-48A output with PB17 or external power is: 5.0/2.5/0.5/0.02 watts. The TH-28A receives from 118-173.995 MHz and sub 438-449.995 MHz and thus supports VHF air band receive. The TH-48A receives from 438-449.995 MHz and sub 136-173.995 MHz.
